Power outage Sunday, 23-Apr-2017
There was a brief power outage on campus Sunday morning around 9:20 AM. Most of the core CLASSE-IT servers rode out the outage (thanks to uninterruptible power supply units), and most CLASSE-IT services were restored by 11:40 AM. Please report any remaining problems to
service-classe@cornell.edu.
Network Maintenance Tuesday, 25-Apr-2017
Between 10am and Noon, various infrastructure services may pause for a few seconds. This maintenance is a result of Sunday's power outages and is necessary to rebalance our services to ensure optimal performance.
Two-step login reminder
On 20-Apr-2017, IT@Cornell enabled mandatory
Two-Step Login for access to financial and tax-related tasks in Workday. For accounts that were still unsecured as of Friday, 21-Apr-2017, CIT enrolled the primary phone number on record for all university employees. Individuals who didn't have a viable phone number listed will need to work with the
IT Service Desk to regain access to protected parts of Workday.
General network and server maintenance will occur every Tuesday from 12:00 noon to 2:00 PM. The CLASSE-IT group will always announce any expected disruptions in our
NewsLetter and via
CLASSE-IT-NEWS-L, but with the size and complexity of our network there is always the potential for something to go wrong. We will do our best to contain all network maintenance and planned outages to Tuesdays from 12:00 noon to 2:00 PM.
Unless other arrangements have been made,
CLASSE-managed Windows systems may be updated and rebooted on Tuesday morning at 2:00 AM, so please avoid critical or lengthy operations at that time. For more details, please see
