08-Oct-2018
On Tuesday, 09-Oct-2018, from 10:00 AM to 12:00 noon, the
CLASSE online password management tool, PWM, will be down because of maintenance on one of our domain controllers. During this time, self-service password resets and account activations will be unavailable, but we can intervene if necessary -- just submit a
ServiceRequest. Logging in to CLASSE-managed computers should be unaffected by this maintenance.
Help Us Help You
To communicate with CLASSE-IT, we invite you to
submit a ticket for any IT problem or question, large or small. We receive approximately 3500 requests per year, and submitting a ticket keeps your issue from getting lost. These tickets are basically emails to
everyone in the CLASSE-IT group. Please do not send service requests to individual IT group members; since we work as a team, it's important to keep the whole group informed.
When you submit a
ServiceRequest, please include as much specific information as possible. The exact text of an error message, the exact address of a website, the name of your computer -- these are all clues that help us tackle your problem. For more suggestions, please see our
ServiceRequestTips.
General network and server maintenance will occur every Tuesday from 12:00 noon to 2:00 PM. The CLASSE-IT group will always announce any expected disruptions in our
NewsLetter and via
CLASSE-IT-NEWS-L, but with the size and complexity of our network there is always the potential for something to go wrong. We will do our best to contain all network maintenance and planned outages to Tuesdays from 12:00 noon to 2:00 PM.
Unless other arrangements have been made,
CLASSE-managed Windows systems may be updated and rebooted on Tuesday morning at 2:00 AM, so please avoid critical or lengthy operations at that time. For more details, please see
SystemExpectations.
