Licensing

Mathematica

This license is updated and working properly.

Matlab

  • Network licenses have been updated and are working properly.
  • If you have a stand alone license, you should be running 2010a. If you still have 2007b, you will have to contact service to be upgraded to 2010a or work out special arrangements.
    • If you are running 2010a, please try the following:
      1. Start MATLAB
      2. Select the "Help" menu >> "Licensing" >> "Update Current Licenses"
      3. A Mathworks License Update window should appear >> Click "Update"
      4. An Update Confirmation window should appear >> Click "Yes"
      5. MATLAB will connect with The Mathworks to validate the new license.
      6. An Update Complete window should appear >> Click "Ok"
      7. Click "Close" on the Mathworks License Update window
      8. MATLAB must be restarted >> Click "Ok" and restart MATLAB to finalize the license update.
    • If you have any questions or issues, please contact Service.

Linux Farm Nodes

As previously announced, almost all linux batch nodes have been converted to 64-bit Scientific Linux 5. Users of the Linux batch queues who have been specifying arch=lx24-x86 will notice that it takes a long time for their jobs to get to the top of the queue. When you specify arch=lx24-x86 or submit from a 32-bit SL4 node, you are restricting your job to run on a handful of older nodes. Change your submission to use arch=lx24-amd64 to run on the new nodes.

It is prudent to check that your jobs run properly under the new operating system before submitting huge numbers of jobs. For more information on using 64-bit SL5, please see ScientificLinux5 and Lnx64Bit.

Please see our GridEngine page for more information on using our GridEngine resource.

General network and server maintenance will occur every Tuesday from 12:00 noon to 2:00 PM. The CLASSE-IT group will always announce any expected disruptions in our NewsLetter and via CLASSE-IT-NEWS-L, but with the size and complexity of our network there is always the potential for something to go wrong. We will do our best to contain all network maintenance and planned outages to Tuesdays from 12:00 noon to 2:00 PM.

Unless other arrangements have been made, CLASSE-managed Windows systems may be updated and rebooted on Tuesday morning at 2:00 AM, so please avoid critical or lengthy operations at that time. For more details, please see SystemExpectations.
