CLASSE computers are not backed up
Please don't forget that LEPP Windows computers in the CLASSE domain are
NOT being backed up. This includes all Windows 7 computers and a few Windows XP computers. You must store important data files on LEPP's SAMBA file servers, either in your home directory or in project-related file systems.
To learn how to access the LEPP Samba servers from Windows, see
https://wiki.lepp.cornell.edu/lepp/bin/view/Computing/ConnectingToALinuxMachineFromWindows
For information about project-related and other file systems, see

Often it is necessary to view email headers to learn where a message actually came from. The "From:" line can contain anything the sender wants you to see. It might have nothing whatsoever to do with where the email actually came from. In contrast, a message's header lines usually list all of the mail systems that the message passed through on its way to you, including the address of the originating system. Headers can be forged, too, but not as easily as the From: line.
Outlook hides the email headers. To learn how to see those headers, or to forward them to someone else for examination, see
https://wiki.lepp.cornell.edu/lepp/bin/view/Computing/OutlookMessageHeaders
General network and server maintenance will occur every Tuesday from 12:00 noon to 2:00 PM. The CLASSE-IT group will always announce any expected disruptions in our
NewsLetter and via
CLASSE-IT-NEWS-L, but with the size and complexity of our network there is always the potential for something to go wrong. We will do our best to contain all network maintenance and planned outages to Tuesdays from 12:00 noon to 2:00 PM.
Unless other arrangements have been made,
CLASSE-managed Windows systems may be updated and rebooted on Tuesday morning at 2:00 AM, so please avoid critical or lengthy operations at that time. For more details, please see
SystemExpectations.
