Virtual Servers (PC570A-PC570D)
We are retiring the Virtual Windows XP Servers PC570A-PC570D on Tuesday, January 17th, 2012. We will be replacing them with one more powerful Virtual Windows XP computer. Additional Windows XP VMs will be allocated if there is need for them. Usage logs show very low use of the existing XP VMs. They're primarily used for remotely changing LNSNTCAD passwords and other activities which require the use of Windows XP in the LNSNTCAD domain.
- CLASSE users can already access many common Windows Applications via WinApp.
Information about WinApp is available at https://wiki.lepp.cornell.edu/lepp/bin/view/Computing/AccessingWinApp
- A Windows 7 VM is available as PC669.
More information about LEPP's virtual Windows computers is available at https://wiki.lepp.cornell.edu/lepp/bin/view/Computing/WindowsApplicationServers
General network and server maintenance will occur every Tuesday from 12 noon to 2:00 PM.
The CLASSE-IT group will always announce any expected disruptions in our NewsLetter
and via CLASSE-IT-NEWS-L
, but with the size and complexity of our network there is always the potential for something to go wrong. We will do our best to contain all network maintenance and planned outages to Tuesdays from 12 noon to 2:00 PM.
Unless other arrangements have been made, CLASSE-managed Windows systems may be updated and rebooted on Tuesday morning at 2:00 AM
, so please avoid critical or lengthy operations at that time. For more details, please see SystemExpectations
