Inventor SP2 update Wed, Feb 1st, 2012 Starting at 4PM
An e-mail has been sent to all known Inventor suite users with more information, some details are reproduced here:
To receive this update, please leave your PC or laptop computer powered ON and on the network Wednesday afternoon. You may LOG OFF but do not SHUT DOWN. If you have a laptop and take it home Wednesday evening, the SP2 push will initiate the next time your laptop connects to the laboratorys network. This could be at an extremely inconvenient time for you, so please leave Inventor enabled laptops at the laboratory Wednesday evening.
There are a few things to be aware of after this update:
- Inventor will likely need to register administratively with the operating system (OS) when you launch it after the update. If so, email service-lepp@cornell.edu AND tio1@cornell.edu with your PC or laptop's name (e.g. PC123, MP231).
- You may see that the VAULT tab across the top banner has disappeared. If this is the case, select Tools tab in top banner in Inventor then select +Add-Ins. A dialogue box will appear. Select Inventor Vault from the list and check both check boxes at lower right under Load Behavior to Load and Load on Startup. Select OK and the Vault tab will appear in the banner.
- Please also check to see that the Vault.ipj project file is still active in Inventor.
XP 64 incompatibility with Inventor updates
If you are still running 64-bit Windows XP, this Inventor Service Pack might not install. Please contact
service-lepp@cornell.edu to schedule your computer to be upgraded to Windows 7.
CLASSE Domain migration Updates
The LEPP Computer group is continuing to move XP computers from LNSNTCAD to CLASSE as appropriate. We will continue to provide details to individuals as appropriate.
- Windows XP x64 computers are deprecated and are having more software compatibility issues. Windows 7 x64 is almost ALWAYS an appropriate upgrade to resolve these issues. We will be contacting all XP x64 users soon to try and schedule upgrading to Windows 7 x64 on the CLASSE domain.
General network and server maintenance will occur every Tuesday from 12:00 noon to 2:00 PM. The CLASSE-IT group will always announce any expected disruptions in our
NewsLetter and via
CLASSE-IT-NEWS-L, but with the size and complexity of our network there is always the potential for something to go wrong. We will do our best to contain all network maintenance and planned outages to Tuesdays from 12:00 noon to 2:00 PM.
Unless other arrangements have been made,
CLASSE-managed Windows systems may be updated and rebooted on Tuesday morning at 2:00 AM, so please avoid critical or lengthy operations at that time. For more details, please see
SystemExpectations.
