Many basic computer peripheral items in Stock Room
If you need some basic computer peripheral items like flash drives, CAT5 / patch cables, USB to Serial adapters (These may require a service request to have us install the driver), Keyboards or Mice, you can now sign these out from the stock room. Please see Steve Hubble to get them.
We can help you plan new computer functionality!
If you are trying to work out a new work process that will rely on computing technology, please submit a service request, call or come out and talk to the computer group. You do not have to determine available software functionality alone.
For instance, we can help find web based tools to run services like the CMMS (Maintenance Management System now being used to track and plan maintenance for the tunnel), we can help identify what hardware is appropriate for various tasks like the CESR Linux Cluster servers, we can even point you to utility software such as zScreen for taking screenshots (and cropping, editing etc) for making your own documentation on the Wiki (which is another service we provide and can assist you in using for easily creating web available documentation and sites).
Scheduled Red Rover outage on Sunday, July 17.
CIT Network Services will be upgrading software and installing new equipment between 5AM and 12Noon on Sunday, July 17, 2011.
RedRover, RedRover-Secure, eduroam and WMC Secure Wi-Fi services will be unavailable during the upgrade. LEPP networks will not be affected.
General network and server maintenance will occur every Tuesday from 12:00 noon to 2:00 PM. The CLASSE-IT group will always announce any expected disruptions in our
NewsLetter and via
CLASSE-IT-NEWS-L, but with the size and complexity of our network there is always the potential for something to go wrong. We will do our best to contain all network maintenance and planned outages to Tuesdays from 12:00 noon to 2:00 PM.
Unless other arrangements have been made,
CLASSE-managed Windows systems may be updated and rebooted on Tuesday morning at 2:00 AM, so please avoid critical or lengthy operations at that time. For more details, please see
SystemExpectations.
