LEPP Windows Firefox update Tonight
As part of our normal updates, we are planning to update Firefox to 10.0.9ESR, Java to v6u37, and Flash to 11.4.402.287. When you start Firefox, you may be prompted to install the Java version 6u37 plugin. Please do so - otherwise Java will not be enabled in Firefox.
Power Glitch and System outages on Sunday
The power to Wilson Lab glitched at about 9 AM on Sunday morning, October 21. As a side effect, one of the disks on LEPP's Unix mail server failed. Its contents were restored to a new disk and the system was up again by about 1PM on Monday, October 22. In addition, the glitch seems to have resulted in a circuit breaker in the East Module's computer room trippng at about 4 PM on Sunday. Most of the affected servers are up again. Some CLEO servers are still down.

General network and server maintenance will occur every Tuesday from 12:00 noon to 2:00 PM. The CLASSE-IT group will always announce any expected disruptions in our
NewsLetter and via
CLASSE-IT-NEWS-L, but with the size and complexity of our network there is always the potential for something to go wrong. We will do our best to contain all network maintenance and planned outages to Tuesdays from 12:00 noon to 2:00 PM.
Unless other arrangements have been made,
CLASSE-managed Windows systems may be updated and rebooted on Tuesday morning at 2:00 AM, so please avoid critical or lengthy operations at that time. For more details, please see
SystemExpectations.
