Windows Office 2010 patch update Tuesday morning: logout Monday evening.
Windows Office 2010 SP1 will be installed early Tuesday morning starting at about 2AM. Make sure you have exited from all Office programs when you leave Monday evening. It's a large update and will cause a reboot, so logging out would be best. In most cases, the update already has downloaded and is just waiting for Tuesday morning.
Macintosh web browser security issue
The Safari web browser contains a feature which causes all files considered "safe" to be automatically opened once they have finished downloading. You must DISABLE this feature. Unfortunately, some viruses and other malware programs are classified "safe". For instructions on how to disable the auto-run feature, see
http://browsers.about.com/od/safar1/ht/safarisafefiles.htm

LEPP Windows Computers Update to Firefox, Adobe Flash and Java -- October 25, 2011
This update will start at 4:30 PM tomorrow, Tuesday, and should finish by 8PM. Note: Firefox will close with no warning when the update starts.
General network and server maintenance will occur every Tuesday from 12:00 noon to 2:00 PM. The CLASSE-IT group will always announce any expected disruptions in our
NewsLetter and via
CLASSE-IT-NEWS-L, but with the size and complexity of our network there is always the potential for something to go wrong. We will do our best to contain all network maintenance and planned outages to Tuesdays from 12:00 noon to 2:00 PM.
Unless other arrangements have been made,
CLASSE-managed Windows systems may be updated and rebooted on Tuesday morning at 2:00 AM, so please avoid critical or lengthy operations at that time. For more details, please see
SystemExpectations.
