LNX201 upgraded to SL6
LNX201 hung on Monday, September 17 and needed to be rebooted. To avoid multiple disruptions, we proceeded with the previously announced upgrade to Scientific Linux 6. As the host key changes with each upgrade, you may need to execute
ssh-keygen -R lnx201
before logging in again. For future reference, this is documented at
https://wiki.lepp.cornell.edu/lepp/bin/view/Computing/ManInTheMiddleAttack .
LNX200 (NX Server) upgrade scheduled for 10am Tuesday, 10/2
LNX200, LEPP's NX server, will be upgraded to SL6 starting at 10am Tuesday, October 2. Users should expect lnx200 to be down for most of the day. LNX201 can be used via SSH or VNC while lnx200 is unavailable. For instructions, please see

Reminder - IBM Color Printers are replaced by new Xerox printers
If you are still printing on the IBM Color Printers at Wilson or Newman, please make sure to test using the replacement Xeroxs. The IBMs will be removed from service soon. CLASSE domain members and Linux users automatically have access to the new Xerox printer queues: w229_xrx_7800 and n123_xrx_7800.
General network and server maintenance will occur every Tuesday from 12:00 noon to 2:00 PM. The CLASSE-IT group will always announce any expected disruptions in our
NewsLetter and via
CLASSE-IT-NEWS-L, but with the size and complexity of our network there is always the potential for something to go wrong. We will do our best to contain all network maintenance and planned outages to Tuesdays from 12:00 noon to 2:00 PM.
Unless other arrangements have been made,
CLASSE-managed Windows systems may be updated and rebooted on Tuesday morning at 2:00 AM, so please avoid critical or lengthy operations at that time. For more details, please see
SystemExpectations.
